How do I decide which folders should be synchronization folders and which should be SyncDrive folders?

Hi,

There is no hard and fast rule regarding this, but SyncDrive is a perfect solution for addressing the following use cases:

  1. Customers using a virtual desktop, which gets re-created each time the user logs in. SyncDrive allows them to view and use all of their files, without the need to re-synchronize each time.
  2. File server replacement. Customers have a large amount of data that they want to make available via Syncplicity. Generally, this data is already accessible via a drive letter, but Syncplicity will in addition allow the users to access the content from other machines, when not connected to the VPN, and from mobile devices. It will also allow for offline access to the content, and provide sharing capabilities.
  3. As part of a normal deployment, for existing folders that users may not want to access often, and/or which contain a number of large files. A good example of this is a folder with a large number of videos. It does not really make sense to synchronize all of these videos to everyone’s laptop when you often only need to access one specific file.
