Important Update: Storage Connector OVA Now Uses Rocky Linux (Replacing CentOS 7.9 which reached its end-of-life)

Upgrading Your Storage Connector: New OVA with Rocky Linux Now Available!

We're excited to announce the availability of a new OVA (Open Virtual Appliance) for our Storage Connector, featuring Rocky Linux as the operating system. This upgrade replaces the previously available OVA that included CentOS 7.9.

Why the Upgrade?

CentOS 7.9, the Linux distribution used in our previous Storage Connector OVA, reached its end-of-life (EOL) on June 30th, 2024. This means it no longer receives critical security updates and bug fixes, leaving your systems vulnerable. To ensure continued security and stability, we transitioned to Rocky Linux, a community-driven, free, and long-term supported enterprise Linux distribution fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

When Did the Change Happen?

The new OVA with Rocky Linux became available for download on Thursday, July 11th, 2024.

Downloading the New OVA

The new OVA can be downloaded from the Downloads for admins section of our US/EU Production websites. Here's how to find it:

  1. Log in to your account on My Syncplicity.
  2. Navigate to the Admin -> Downloads section.
  3. Look for "Storage Connector (Virtual Appliance)".
  4. Download the new OVA with Rocky Linux.

Moving Forward

We recommend migrating your existing deployments to the new Rocky Linux OVA at your earliest convenience. This ensures your Storage Connector benefits from the latest security patches and ongoing support. If you have any questions regarding the upgrade process, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team at support@syncplicity.com.
