Streaming video files

You can stream video files directly in My Syncplicity - simply click a video file to play. You don't have to download a file to play it - the content is sent in a continuous stream of data and played as it arrives.

The video streaming interface gives you all the options you would expect - pause and resume play, adjust the volume and use the seekbar to skip forward or go back.

Supported file types

The following are the supported file types for streaming video files in the My Syncplicity online file browser (OFB). For unsupported file types, you can download the video files and play them locally.

Improve video playback and viewing

To improve the performance of video playback or viewing try the following options:

  • For a more reliable playback, sync (download) the video to your local PC.
  • Start the video playback as soon as the video player appears. If you wait for more than 10 seconds, a playback may not be achieved.
  • Use a smaller video file. The breakpoint file size between small and large files depends on the network bandwidth from the browser to the file storage (storage connector). For example, the breakpoint file size equals 10 * Bandwidth (in megabytes per second).
