When using Syncplicity, space is taken on your computer in three possible ways:
- Locally synced folders, located outside your SyncDrive
- Files saved for offline use
- Cached files
To free up space on your computer, you can clear the offline files, SyncDrive cache or convert your locally synced folders to SyncDrive.
Clear cache and offline files
Click the Syncplicity icon in the Windows taskbar and from the Syncplicity taskbar select Settings > Storage.
Information about the space locally synced, cached and offline files is displayed.
To clear the cache, click Clear SyncDrive cache and confirm your choice when prompted.
To clear the offline files, click Clear SyncDrive offline and confirm your choice.
Convert locally synced folders to SyncDrive
If you have local folders synced with Synplicity, you may consider transferring them to SyncDrive to free up some space on your computer. When you convert a local folder to SyncDrive, it is moved from your machine to SyncDrive as available online only.
Conversion may not be allowed if you are very close to reaching your Syncplicity storage limit.
Click the Syncplicity icon in the Windows taskbar and from the Syncplicity taskbar select Settings > Storage. Then under Convert locally synced folders to SyncDrive click Select folders and in the dialog choose which folders you want to convert. When ready, click Convert to SyncDrive and confirm your decision. Depending on the folder size, you may need to wait several minutes before the conversion is finished.
Any files or folders added to the folder during the conversion process are not converted and are deleted after the conversion is completed.
Folders with open files or excluded file types might not be converted to SyncDrive.
From Windows Explorer navigate to the folder you want to convert, right-click on it and select Free up space. Then when prompted, confirm your decision.
