Annotating a PDF document on iPhone

You can add comments, electronically sign documents, draw free style, and strike out, underline or highlight text when you open a Portable Document Format (PDF) file in your Syncplicity app. The ability to annotate a PDF is supported in each Syncplicity edition.

When you complete your annotations, you can save the file with your changes or save as a new PDF file.

When you open a PDF, tap the word bubble icon at top to show the annotation options.

You cannot annotate PDF files in read-only folders. Also, you cannot use the Syncplicity app to annotate any old versions of PDF files that cannot be annotated by Acrobat Pro.

Signing a document

A common reason to annotate a PDF is to sign a document, such as a contract. After reading the document, you may want to strike-out specific text, add notes then sign. Here’s an example of how to do that:

  1. Open the document and read it.
  2. To make changes, tap the text icon () highlight the text to annotate and tap to highlight, underline or strikethrough.
  3. To add a sticky note, tap the screen, tap Sticky note and enter your note.
  4. To sign, tap the free-hand tool () and sign.

The following sections have the details on how to do each of those steps.

Adding sticky notes

Tap the screen where you want to place a note, tap Sticky note, enter the note and click Done. To open the note again, tap it and tap Sticky note.

Using the magnifying lens

Tap and hold until the magnify lens appears. Move the lens to magnify the text you want.
