Navigating folders on iPhone

The Syncplicity for iPhone app is designed as a set of layers.

  • Layer 1: The home screen
  • Layer 2:  The main menu
  • Layer 3:  The files, offline, activity feed, or shared links view that you choose.

At any layer, you can long tap to dismiss the view.

To navigate the folders, tap the Files icon in the main menu. A list of folders is displayed. These are the top-level folders. Any folder within a folder is a subfolder.

To go back one level, tap the left arrow at the top or swipe right. You can also tap a folder name, even though you can only see a partial folder name, on the left side to see that folder’s contents.

You can go many levels deep, although only three levels are shown at any point. Each previous folder is shown as a column to the left. If the iPhone screen becomes crowded, you can pinch and squeeze to focus on the column you wish to view. Conversely, you can pinch and expand to show more columns.

To see your path of nested folders, tap the name of the folder at the top of the screen, also called the breadcrumb view. Breadcrumbs quickly help you to navigate to any folder level. In this case, tap January to display all the folders back to the top-level folder, Corporate Communications. You can then tap the X to delete the view and return to the previous view. You can then tap the X to delete the view and return to the previous view.

At the list of top-level of folders, you can tap the down caret at the top of the screen to go back to the main menu. The Files bar is docked at the bottom of the screen so you can easily return the list of folders.

At any folder screen, you can tap long tap and swipe down to dock the view and go to main menu. You can also log tap and swipe left or dismiss the current view and go to main menu.
