You can rename SyncDrive files and folders in the My Syncplicity web browser application and Syncplicity clients. The following tables describe how the My Syncplicity online file browser (OFB) and clients initiate and respond to actions.
Initiator: OFB
The following table describes actions when a user is logged on to My Syncplicity in a browser and performing renames.

Rename a file or folder
- Log on to My Syncplicity in a browser.
- Place the cursor over a file or folder and click the Pencil icon. The icon is only displayed for files and folders you can rename.
- Type a new name.
Other details
- Digest notifications include file or folder rename events
- File and folder names cannot contain special characters
- Rename does not generate versions for files and folders
- No changes to activity feed and reporting
