Storage Connector 3.2 or newer fails to start up and the log file contains a message related to parsing a block mapping

Problem

Storage Connector fails to start up and the log file contains a message related to parsing a block mapping: expected <block end>, but found BlockMappingStart.

The complete format of the message is:

while parsing a block mapping
in 'reader', line #, column #:
<start_line_name>:

expected <block end>, but found BlockMappingStart
in 'reader', line #, column #:
<end_line_name>:
^

Cause

The issue is observed when the syncp-storage.yml file contains non-standard whitespace symbols. The error message seems to provide specific information, but the character that causes the problem could be anywhere between the first reported line and the end reported line.

Solution

Verify that your syncp-storage.yml file does not contain non-standard white characters.
