The on-premise Storage Connectors support a variety of storage endpoints. The Connectors can store data on EMC Isilon scale-out NAS, EMC VNX/VNXe file based or unified storage arrays, or any other NAS system that supports NFS v3 or v4. Additionally, Object Storage interfaces can be used for storage endpoints such as EMC Enterprise Cloud Storage (ECS), EMC Atmos or Amazon S3.
Connectivity
Monitor the inbound access through the StorageVault Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) to the Storage Connectors.
Remote partitions
Remote partitions are mounted as local drives. Mount points and configuration details are specified in /etc/syncp-storage/syncp-storage.conf.
The following parameters should be monitored:
- rBlk_nor/s (rkB_nor/s, rMB_nor). Indicates the number of blocks (kilobytes, megabytes) read by applications via the read system call interface. A block has a size of 512 bytes.
- wBlk_nor/s (wkB_nor/s, wMB_nor/s). Indicates the number of blocks (kilobytes, megabytes) written by applications via the write system call interface.
- rBlk_dir/s (rkB_dir/s, rMB_dir/s). Indicates the number of blocks (kilobytes, megabytes) read from files opened with the O_DIRECT flag.
- wBlk_dir/s (wkB_dir/s, wMB_dir/s). Indicates the number of blocks (kilobytes, megabytes) written to files opened with the O_DIRECT flag.
- rBlk_svr/s (rkB_svr/s, rMB_svr/s). Indicates the number of blocks (kilobytes, megabytes) read from the server by the NFS client via an NFS READ request.
- wBlk_svr/s (wkB_svr/s, wMB_svr/s). Indicates the number of blocks (kilobytes, megabytes) written to the server by the NFS client via an NFS WRITE request.
For Amazon S3 service the following parameters should be monitored.
- Bucket Size Bytes. The amount of data in bytes stored in a bucket in the Standard storage class or in the Reduced Redundancy Storage (RRS) class.
- Number of Objects. The total number of objects stored in a bucket.
