Companies have groups within their organization, due to compliance reasons some groups may not permitted to share documents with other groups within the organization. This can be managed with Internal Group Sharing Restriction feature, which enables to set policy and provide control over the sharing and receiving of files amongst groups within the organization.
The policy settings allows for control of outbound as well as inbound internal sharing. The policy applies both to sharing of folders and files (where recipients are specified).
Control Outbound Internal Sharing Policy
This policy can be set to control outbound (sending) sharing of folders/files to internal users of a group within the organization.
To set the outbound Internal Sharing Policy, follow the steps below:
- Login to Syncplicity with administrator credentials.
- In the navigation bar, click Admin and then click policies -> Security -> Internal Group Sharing Restrictions -> Control Outbound Internal Sharing.

The following options are available for controlling outbound Internal sharing:
- No restriction on internal Sharing – This option will allow sharing of folder/file to internal group users within the company without any restriction. By default, this option will be selected as shown in the figure above.
- Internal sharing to groups with current Policy Set – This option displays the existing policy settings with group’s names, which allows internal sharing of folder/files to the groups. This will not allow you to modify.
- Internal sharing to specific groups - This allows for the selection of a whitelist of blacklist of groups for outgoing sharing. The whitelists allows you to specify the list of groups that the users can share with, sharing with users from other groups will be disallowed.

Control Inbound Internal Sharing Policy
This policy can be used to control Inbound (receiving) sharing of folders with internal group users within the organization.
To set the Inbound Internal Sharing Policy, follow the steps below:
- Login to Syncplicity with administrator credentials.
- In the navigation bar, click Admin and then click policies -> Security -> Internal Group Sharing Restrictions -> Control Inbound Internal Sharing.

The following options are available for controlling Inbound Internal sharing:
- No restriction on receiving internal Sharing– This option will allow receiving of shared folder/file from internal group users within the company without any restriction. By default, this option will be selected as shown in the figure above.
- Receive Internal sharing from groups with current Policy Set - This option displays the existing policy settings with group’s names, which allows receiving of share folder/files from internal groups. This will not allow you to modify. Additionally, you can select the Enforce read-only (Reader) permissions on Received folders check box to set read-only permissions to the received folders/files.
- Internal shares from specific groups - This allows for the selection of a whitelist of blacklist of groups for receiving shares from. The whitelists allows you to specify the list of groups that the users can receive shares from, receiving shares from users from other groups will be disallowed. Additionally, you can select the Enforce read-only (Reader) permissions on Received folders check box to set read-only permissions to the received folders/files.

Sharing Policy Compliance Report
Sharing Policy Compliance Report provides administrators visibility into the shared folders and files which conformance to compliance and that are out of compliance with the currently defined group policies. This report will show any current shared files or folders that out of compliance with the existing sharing policies, the report will look at all current sharing policies including affiliate sharing policies.
